Call Waiting: Kathrin Werderitsch

Model Behavior – She was oblivious to the commotion forming around her as people tried to figure out just who this leggy creature was, slowing their pace to walk alongside her to get a peek. One man even whispered to me, “She’s speaking German,” as if to assist my mission.

It had suddenly turned into a fairly hot day, so she really stood out in her mega fur, quilted leather shorts, Valentino bag and 5-inch suede wedges. We were both leaving the Meatpacking District on 14th Street – and I tried to outpace her (not easy) all the way from 9th Avenue to 8th Avenue, trying to get some good, full outfit shots without gawkers in my frame. More importantly, I invested too much effort in the shots to not give you guys her name. She told me it was complicated and was nice enough to put her call on hold to spell it out for me: K-a-t-h-r-i-n  W-e-r-d-e-r-i-t-s-c-h.

For the record, I’m glad I waited for her to stop to get the full shot because I ended up capturing a lot of social commentary in just one frame. Kathrin Werderitsch is an Austrian model with IMG and has fronted magazine covers for Japanese Vogue and Oyster so far. From the few shots I sampled, these saturated fashion images from British Cosmo were among my faves. (Danke, Kathrin!)

You’re right, glad you got the full shot. Nothing like a good grounding dose of reality.

Thanks and you’re right about that, Danielle. It’s pretty sobering.
