Rosario Dawson rocked the block last night when her G-Star x Kitson Studio event overtook Robertson Blvd with Women’s Night. The two brands collaborated on a six piece capsule collection, soon to be going going gone. I stopped by the party for a little LA StyleSpotting session on Kitson’s patio and found a few little visual treasures. I have to say that Rosario has the kindest eyes and warmest smile in person. [Above, Rosario is in the middle with violinist Caitlin Moe and DJ Mia Moretti. More pix after the jump.] As I tend to do, I’ve hidden some Easter eggs for you behind some of the photos.

Romi and Jay. (I was obsessed with The Real L Word star’s cache of jewelry).  [CLICK for more party pix]

Stephanie Pratt Eats Dessert. Just Like Us.

by Jerri Howell on Saturday, April 9, 2011

in Celebrities,Events,Los Angeles,News

Electric Youth – I spotted Stephanie Pratt (The Hills alum), at a Kiehl’s event Thursday in Santa Monica and of all celebs attending, she was undoubtedly the most eye-popping. And she eats! She embraced the turquoise trend I’m spotting all over LA with her  Boulee romper — and had swag down to a science. (Bloggers were abuzz about her reunion with Kristin Cavallari at this event). I also have pix coming on this Kiehl’s launch that was hosted by Chloë Sevigny and Michael C. Hall. Catch my story on LA website mondetteCLICK here for more about Kiehl’s

You CAN always get what you want – if you’re Georgia May Jagger. The 19-year-old British beauty (above) has been modeling for Hudson Jeans since 2009 and just debuted her own capsule collection, launched at Neiman Marcus during LA Fashion Week. I asked Hudson’s Creative Director, Ben Taverniti (pictured above), about GMJ’s styles and he said they’re edgier mid-rises that come a variety of washes. I counted five designs that night ranging from super skinny to a pair that laces up the side and one with zippers up both sides. The rock & roll inspired flair isn’t surprising considering her parents are Mick Jagger and iconic supermodel Jerry Hall. This pair is even named after her mother.

VIDEO CLIP – I caught a short video of Georgia May Jagger wrapping up press for the event before she slipped out to get ready for the after party.

Genetic Advantage - Georgia May Jagger inherited father Mick Jagger’s famous pout and mother Jerry Hall’s fashion flair, with a teen twist. (Love the chunky silver chain).

Half the crowd stood hypnotized in front of these models – (and one publicist asked me not to take a photo of her actor client while he was flirting with, well, all of them).

Georgia May flipped out over this girl’s over-the-top manicure (faintly evidenced in the middle shot above). PS I accidentally discovered that the teen designer writes reminders on her hand.

HUDSON is an LA based brand with British flair that taps Italian and Japanese denim mills for their hand finished jeans. More stylespotting photos from the event will be posted this week + (of course) best of bags. (Shout out to PK155)    Flickr SetTwitter | Facebook

From Bollywood to Hollywood – Bollywood star Udita Goswami is mobbed whenever she walks outside in her country and has to cover her face. She enjoys a life of luxury and privilege and even had two maids before moving to Los Angeles. It’s a different picture as the actress starts over in Hollywood and she told me, with wide eyes, that she is  ”just learning to do this” and had just experienced LA public transport for the first time. She added, “I just get to be me and it’s so much fun.” Designer Kevan Hall is dressing Udita exclusively (8 looks to be exact) for her first Academy Awards week. I’ll explain how below, but I was fortunate to get an Exclusive Look + Video as Kevan fitted her for various parties – and the Oscars! Get a sneak peek at what Udita will be wearing in just a few hours. Have you ever wondered what happens behind the scenes? It takes an army and you’ll see it’s much more involved than simply borrowing a dress.

Diamonds are (not) forever. Sometimes they’re simply borrowed - I shot the video above as a simple lens test that I hadn’t planned to use – but ended up captivated by what felt like a private moment. Here, they’re negotiating which diamond bracelets and earrings, loaned from Forevermark, are the best look for her modern dress, before moving on to her hair. The designer is involved in every facet of what’s paired with his dresses. DETAILS: She’s wearing a crimson cocktail dress and a staffer mentioned the belt was added to accentuate her waist. In the background, they’re talking about this dress and diamonds from the previous night’s Art of Elysium event. The ‘after’ shot of the red dress seen in the video is here. Listen: LaRon

by Jerri Howell on Sunday, February 20, 2011

in Celebrities,Giveaway,Los Angeles,Music,News,StreetStyle

AN URBAN ALTERNATIVE – Last weekend, I caught LaRon ambling into this acoustic pre-Grammy’s event, quiet and self-conscious, always nervous before he goes onstage, he’d tell me later. I got to witness the transformation as he played LA for the first time – and was blindsided by the texture of such a young voice and his musical range. I ended up at LaRon’s studio on Grammy Sunday to do some digging on this 23-year-old ‘Urban Alternative’ artist from Minneapolis who’s said that music gives him wings.

Laron's first LA performance at Green Grammy's Event

HEAR THISDonnie Scantz & Jahi Sundance just released LaRon’s lush debut album, Like a Rose, on itunes over Christmas as the first artist on their State of Emergency label. (They’re the Grammy winning production company who’ve produced music for the likes of Chris Brown, Ludacris, Usher, Aaliyah, Miguel and Danity Kane). LaRon’s music is about the whole approach and not one specific sound and his taste ranges from Rick Brown to MGMT, from Passion Pit to Coldplay. The album is a love story about a break-up (his ex’s name is Rose, hence the title) and the 10 tracks are peppered with stacked vocals, infusing layered and experimental sounds. His first single, Take You There, fuses Electro, Pop and Dubstep and you can STREAM IT via the Video below. [Go inside his studio after the jump]

I spotted Adrian Grenier in Superdry.

Superdry Classic Pea Coat Jacket at Sundance

StyleSpotting @ Sundance – So I never told you about my new obsession: Superdry jackets! Even before I caught Adrian Grenier wearing their classic peacoat. I was at a Creative Coalition panel at Sundance where Adrian (among others) was to speak about filmmaking and Superdry was the sponsor. They had a faux store display set up in the back corner, which was literally mobbed as everyone entered the event. I’m talking professional adults mobbing the Superdry section so massively that they had to shut down during the panel. So while the panelists were probably sharing intimate stories, all I could hear was the sound of my own feet shuffling to the back of the room so I could try to score a jacket when it was over.

Superdry bag at Sundance

And yes, I did score a jacket at the event – a cool, fitted windbreaker that was (sadly) lifted, when I sat the bag down to snap streetstyle photos a few hours before I headed back to LAX. Click to see Adrian >>>
