That’s it. I finally made a haircut appointment. Emily brushed off the fact that she had cute hair, like anyone could pull this off. Have you seen my hair? If I wasn’t so tired, I’d take my scissors to it right now (something I always regret, but continually do).

Have a fun long weekend…

Fish & Chips – I should’ve gone to the Brooklyn Flea hungry because there was so much incredible food, unlike LA’s flea market. I spotted Phil picking up his order from Handsome Hank’s Fish Hut. (No, he’s not a model, but he does work in Fashion.) All that fish and stellar fries for $10. I cannot wait to finally try Smorgasburg (thanks, M) in this same location on Saturdays, stacked with food vendors and related wares. I won’t lie. I’m kind of wallowing in my new surroundings, but I’ve barely made a dent.

I used to cover a lot more Food + Bev when I was in LA and look for more fun NYC features soon – and specials guests.

Food Republic – I met Laila Gohar, a food writer and avid online shopping enthusiast, in Washington Square Park. She was bundled in layer upon layer on an especially chilly Sunday. Underneath, she’s even hiding a Margiela sweater and Elizabeth and James knickers and is carrying a Prada bag.
Laila writes a textured array of food posts for Food Republic, including Top 5 Food Porn Specialists, a convenient guide to 5 DIY Food and Drink Gifts and a love story about a porchetta sandwich. She was also just picked up by Huffington Post for her take on 20 Exotic McDonald’s Sandwiches.
Laila has an incredible eye, with a penchant for finding interesting designers around the world. She shares her 5 Favorite Online Global Shopping Destinations below. Fair warning: you might not leave your house.

Below are 5 of my favorite online shopping destinations from around the world!
www.thekooples.com (One of my favorite labels for the past three years now. I was in Paris in 2009 taking pastry and macaron classes at Le Notre and discovered it back when no one knew about it, now it’s become huge. They have such a cool aesthetic and concept, you can read about them on the site. They are basically inspired by cool, everyday couples.)
www.shakuhachi.net (An awesome Australian designer with really soft, delicate dresses.)
http://us.sandro-paris.com (Sandro is an amazing French label– they are opening a store in NYC soon — I couldn’t be more excited!)
www.openingceremony.us (Needs no explanation
)
http://store.pitusa.co.uk (A really cool, colorful Peruvian inspired label based out of London/Miami)

I spotted Katherine in a breezy asos hat (and gorgeous Balenciaga bag) as she was waiting on a table outside Gjelina. She just moved from Silverlake to beachy Venice and told me, “I have really been taking advantage of walking to all the AMAZING restaurants here!” She shares her top picks below.
Katherine’s also wearing a Max Mara sweater, Current Elliot jeans and raybans. I’ve obviously spent a lot of time in Venice lately (can you blame me?), but will be posting some belated features and party people — plus streetstyle from a new adventure very soon. Have a great weekend.
Katherine’s Six Beachy Faves: Tapas and wine at Primitivo, fresh fish at Shima, the cheese plates at Venice Beach Wines and all out brunching at Gjelina (featured here); I could spend hours and hours there. I also love to start off my day by walking to Groundworks for a cup of coffee and next door there is an awesome little deli called Zelda’s which is a great place to pick up paninis and sandwiches for a picnic and amazing people watching on the boardwalk.

(Q & A) - I spotted actress Dawn Olivieri (Vampire Diaries, True Blood, Heroes) wearing Boho Chic during Abbot Kinney’s First Friday event, where a bevy of food trucks overtake the street. She was trying the event for the first time and was such a cool spirit that I wanted to know more about her and she was nice enough to share in below’s Q&A. She was actually on her way to Haiti for some volunteer work and shares more about her look and some tasty foods from that night below.
What’s the secret for pulling off the BoHo look?
Dawn: It’s all in the detail… earth tones, movement and rough edges. I don’t just limit it to the clothing either… for me, it’s how I live. Click for Dawn’s style story.

Gjelina Take Away – This airy hotspot is the long anticipated annex of Chef Travis Lett’s Gjelina restaurant in Venice. At 8:30am, GTA starts serving coffee and homemade pastries to bedheaded locals, before adding lunch items at 11:30. I’ve spotted Miwa there a few times, who’s typically quiet, yet seems to speak volumes with her eyes. Today, I was able to catch her in a rare moment between customers to find out more about her style. {Click for more about Miwa & GTA}

Local Flavor - I’ve been meaning to try downtown LA’s hip Bottega Louie Restaurant, Bakery & Gourmet Marketplace since it opened 2 years ago and was finally motivated to make the trek with friends Jill, Nick and Pasha on Memorial Day. It was SO much fun! An amazing Italian brunch, colorful pastries and even more colorful characters. Come inside and see what I mean…

I met this colorful “balloon trooper” on the way in when I asked about her great shirt, which she got at a hippie Topanga Canyon store for 99 cents. She had done her research and found out Wackenhut is an international security force, so it seems to be part of a uniform. Funny. Here, she’s digging for her card and I’m pretty mesmerized by her creative endeavor. Click for more on Jihan, this hip resto and colorful pastries >>

Jesse and Zoe at Joan's on Third
Great Hair – I ran into Jesse at Joan’s on Third and I think he was surprised (and a bit embarrassed) that I wanted to snap his photo with Zoe. He’s an LA hair guru who used to be at my salon (Public Service) and just moved to Nine Zero One in West Hollywood this week. (If you’ve seen Blowout, it was Jonathan Antin’s original salon). Each time I went to Public Service, Jesse would be wearing something cool, yet understated (like great boots with the zipper up the back). I’ll miss his spirit and give Jesse a try at his new location (310) 855-9099. CLICK HERE to see some of Jesse’s faves >>
