Introducing Timothy Ringsmuth Jewelry – I literally bought some pieces off the designer’s body during this Unique LA Summer Show and have since been approached by many who’ve tried to buy them off mine, even as I was shooting model Miwa Sakamoto, seen here. The biggest buzz is the above Hermès Orange bridge necklace, on a delicate 18-inch gold filled chain with a toggle clasp. They retail for $120 and you can contact the designer here for a substantial StyleSpotting.com discount through October 15, 2011. It’s such a great deal that I’m going to keep it under wraps unless you reach out. Timothy (her real name) has made a name for herself as a fine artist who specializes in glass and started making jewelry as well. [Click any image to see these pieces in her gallery]
Q: As a fine artist, what inspired you to start making jewelry?
Timothy: I started making jewelry for myself and for friends in-between making installation works. I loved the simple puzzle of shaping a form that would be pleasant both aesthetically and visually, to wear on the body. After moving to LA, I decided to focus more fully on the jewelry. The bracelets – and most pieces – are available in a broad color palette, above with adjustable slipknots.

Arts & Leisure Pop Up Shop – I’ve been overbooked this month, but finally made it out to this very cool pop up shop in its final days, curated by SOPHOMORE designer Chrissie Miller, at Space 15 Twenty. Today is their last day, so head over to spot some great designers and hi/low deals. On my way in, I caught stylish Danah VanReuth stocking up on cute summer blouses. Catch my 12 favorite finds after the jump.

Gina and John share the LOCAL LOVE.
Wow, my Unique LA Pop Up Shop was a fun adventure, but turned out to be a bit challenging after I was booked to shoot a pilot the same week as the event. I’m still recovering and looking forward to my first weekend off in a while! I met a lot of creative people and have a few I’d like to share with you, especially one I hope you’ll meet later. Wink. [More pix after the jump.]

I can’t thank my fun designers enough: Suzy LeQ from Rossmore, Kathryn Bentley of Dream Collective, Lana My, Thursday Friday and Mei Vintage. Paul, a heartfelt thank you for getting the show up and running with me and to Karina for bringing your stylish aesthetic. [CLICK for the full story.]

Going on Record - I’m thrilled that Dream Collective will be offering discounted jewelry at my Pop-Up-Shop at this weekend’s Unique LA event in Santa Monica. The line is Kathryn Bentley’s very affordable oxidized brass costume jewelry collection that references indigenous cultures in a variety of textures. Her Silverlake shop is VIVIER BENTLEY that I’ve mentioned here. In just a bit, I’m picking up specific styles from current and past seasons, so if there’s something you’re dying to see at the event, please let me know. Be warned that her bracelets and cuffs are really fun to collect and stack. Definitely expect some of her colorful record bead necklaces, like above, adorned with African beads literally made from vinyl records and recycled plastics for a cool eco-chic touch.
I’ll be adding more about the pieces here and on the SHOP page. Hope to see you there where I’ll be with 250 other designers and artists. Here’s ticket info.

Shop til you Pop – I’m curating my first shopping event via SHOP StyleSpotting.com, a Pop-Up-Shop at Unique LA – this Saturday and Sunday – at Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar (booth # 124). I’m especially excited to start announcing my designers, starting with sexy Suzy LeQ’s easy breezy line: Rossmore, named after one of her favorite streets in LA. It’s an artisanal line of small batch jewelry, so you can sense the energy she puts into every piece. She’s well known for her spirited aesthetic, layered looks, and she’ll even be on hand offering killer deals (so crazy that I can’t really publish them). Stop by booth #124 (near the entrance) to meet Suzy and get one of her gratis wish bracelets while supplies last.

The Scoop – I’ll be in good company among 250 hand picked designers and artists for Unique LA’s first westside event, July 30 and 31. It’s usually downtown and more attendees have RSVP’d than previous shows. Gulp, no pressure. I’m dying to show you the bag line I’m carrying – that’s even been endorsed by Bill Cunningham – so keep your eyes peeled. (Saturday/Sunday from 11-6 with more details after the jump).

Bold Gold – I spotted Courtney and her statement Mawi London necklace outside American Rag on La Brea and it took me a minute to realize it was her. She works at Les Pommettes, one of my favorite stores on Robertson that happens to be launching their annual Jewelry & Accessories Trunk show, today through July. The event features hundreds of pieces from designers around the globe, so say hi to Courtney if you stop by. Her rings are Low Luv, Tom Tom and Dara Ettinger, the shirt is Girl by Band of Outsiders, the Levi’s shorts are from this flea market and the bag is Alexander Wang. She just picked up these Raybans, which I knew by peeking her blog shadesandbooties.com. Want to see Courtney’s full outfit? You can go vote on her look at RackedLA.

Color Crazy – A sneak peek at some colorful trunk show earrings, with a stack of Deux Lux handbags behind them. #Lust

So long, studs – So many of the cool girls carrying Alexander Wang and she’s got the Diego Bucket. Sigh…

Over the Decades – I met Jazmina and her mother Kathy at a fun Summer Party I’ll be posting soon. I was crushing on this writer/student’s really smart accessories, (down to an orange bow in her hair I didn’t shoot). The costume jewelry spider pin belonged to her great-aunt and her blue plaid shirt is by Jack, purchased at recently opened Eagle Rock store, the edgy Letters from LA. (You can catch the store’s recent grand opening party on Mondette.) I liked hearing that Jazmina and her sister, Fabiana, like to shop in each other’s closets. Get a look at her vintage buffalo bag after the jump. [click to continue…]
