Walking the Walk - It was a soggy Brooklyn morning when I spotted her heading toward the subway. Do you know her? I was too intimidated to stop for details. It happens. I do know she’s wearing Opening Ceremony’s 10th Anniversary Limited Edition Varsity Jacket and the sleeve you can’t see is black. (What did we ever do before Google?) She’s carrying an Alexander Wang Emile bag and I know her shoes are obvious, but can’t quite place them. It was nice to find that my first instagram streetstyle shot made it into the New York Times.
I also got something fun printed in Zürich for a story about Miroslava, Garance and The Sartorialist. More on that, up soon. If you’ve noticed I’m not posting as often, there’s some tweaking going on behind-the-scenes that you’ll start seeing in February, March and April…

Fantogram – I spotted Kathleen Fanto, a NYC buyer, on a Williamsburg sidewalk and found her beguiling as she walked along laughing with friends. I discovered that she’s a stellar [yet modest] photographer, sampled here. (She has the eye of a director and my fave is this deserted car innuendo). I’d love to see her shoot video, but I digress. She shares more on her style below — and continued after the jump, with more on her photography. (I can completely relate to her pov about organic beauty and being able to find inspiration in a brick wall.) Otherwise, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas on N. 6th Street with that random pine tree, don’t you think?

FASHION + WORK:
I am currently a fashion buyer for a women’s lifestyle store in Nolita specializing in obscure International product, some of which we introduce single-handedly into the US market. It’s a lot of fun and very inspiring.
As a buyer, I have such amazing new cutting edge designers at my fingertips but I am a total vintage lover. I dress for myself. I believe that style is all about confidence – it’s key. My personal style really just reflects Read More >>>

Pen Pal – You might remember model Laure-Anne Baillon from this Brooklyn post and I’m currently obsessed with [maybe] getting bold bangs and thought of this photo. She was adorable, even as she jotted her contact info. (I’m also obsessed with these haircuts and not sure what to do next, but want something drastic).
Picture This – I have a short window for some NYC bookings for the month of December. For personal portraits, editorials, model test shots or style video collaborations, you can contact me here.

A Brooklyn Original – I’ve been craving some indie spirit in streetstyle and found myself in
Williamsburg over the weekend and spotted a couple interesting women in cool coats I’d love you to meet. Jess plays bass for the band
The Psyched and got her colorful coat at one of my favorite Williamsburg vintage shops. She goes to Stacey at the popular
Arrojo Studio for the fringy look. I spotted her coming out of
The Future Perfect on N. 6th and Berry, (one of my favorite stores for
cool stuff like this). Care to peek into her life? She shares a few tidbits in her own words at the bottom.

I was actually born and raised in Bklyn. Went to NYU so have never left! I live in Bushwick now with my boyfriend Steve who is also a bass player in a band called Devin. They’re on FrenchKiss records.
The coat I snagged at Doggy’s a.k.a 10 Foot Single (I think the store has like 10 different names). It’s on N 6th Street by the BQE.
As far as wining and dining goes, I don’t leave my hood unless I have to! I eat a lot of Roberta’s and Momo Sushi Shack.
Next up, you’ll meet a special spirit with a keen eye. Until then, some related posts:

Teen Queen - I spotted Norwegian model Frida Aasen in Brooklyn last June and thought I had spotted a human Barbie. I’ve noticed that she’s blowing up lately and thought you’d like to have a peek at this model’s weekend look. She’s an avid equestrian who says she was discovered in her hometown mall. Considering she’s already graced the cover of Dazed & Confused, gotten some major buzz after walking New York Fashion Week and is the face of Nasty Gal’s Holiday 2012 Collection, I predict an interesting year ahead for this distinctive face. Beauty in the Burg – You’ve met guest photographer Carlotta Bertelli when I spotted her here — and she’s also featured in my temporary header above. Fashion photography is her forte and I was impressed with her stylized body of work, so when I discovered she had a barrage of her Williamsburg street portraits available, I jumped. She’s currently back home in Italy and I’m hoping she’s back here soon. Carlotta’s inspiration behind these portraits is detailed below.
“Living there – and in Williamsburg in particular – made me see fashion literally walking down its streets – and all those guys I’ve met incarnate the aspects of fashion which fascinate me most: the freedom to play and to re-invent yourself, the courage to be different, the power of making a difference.”

Carlotta had such a fun collection of people that was hard to narrow down, so I chose to focus primarily on her range of women. The two at the top I’m especially obsessed with ever since I also shot them outside Marc by Marc Jacobs’ show at New York Fashion Week (that I’ll post in a future feature). Something about them…
Speaking of Fashion Week, I’ve been busy as a producer on an upcoming Style Network TV series about a fashion icon, so yesterday was my first day to tackle the event full force. I came away with some inspired personalities and I’ll be starting with a very familiar face that’s up next…

Going Long – For my final photo on the variety of little black [summer] dresses overtaking New York City, I spotted Ilana at the Brooklyn Flea in Williamsburg, sporting a Monki maxi. She’s also wearing an Urban Outfitters straw hat and Topshop shoes and was visiting from France. It’s a perfect look for a summer Sunday.
Next week, Model Monday is back for real – plus Sydney, an expert in ASOS who taught me a thing or two about shopping.

Brooklyn’s Finest – I spotted model Vanessa Breuer on Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg, watching band Sweet Street Symphony take to the streets. I’ve also shot Vanessa in the West Village and loved her breezy weekend vibe here. She’s wearing a shredded ‘Creature of the Night’ T-shirt, Rag & Bone Mila shorts and surprisingly, that’s a Sass & Bide bra underneath. She’s also wearing the sneaks from her West Village shot.
#Want: I give up on finding her bra online, but found a few fancy ones to wear under sideswiped shirts:
Trivia: Do you love Vanessa’s superhero stance? You can’t tell here, but the sidewalk is nuts and I even had to wait for a lull in foot traffic to get a clean shot. If you ever run into her, she’s got a great laugh (and a handsome man.)
