Twice as Nice – I spotted Susie Lau a/k/a Susie Bubble before fashion shows for Donna Karan (above) and Marc by Marc Jacobs (below) the very next day. I always love to see what she’s wearing and there’s never a dull moment. She experiments with color, and especially textures, in a way that’s usually inspiring and always entertaining. I love the trademark topknot and that she looks like a living doll.

She talks about what she’s wearing here, with her Suno jacket, Peter Jensen sweaters over a uniqlo heat tech shirt, Miu Miu x Pop Shoes (love!) and a Theyskens for Theory bag.

Everyone after Susie was running to Marc’s show because they’re known to start on time and many VIP’s have been locked out. (That’s why Anna Dello Russo was running here.) P.S. Susie made it.

Caroline in the City – I spotted Caroline on Prince Street in Nolita rocking some pretty serious scalloped shorts by Aqua that she found at Bloomies. She found her shirt at Poppy in Soho, with an Urban Outfitters necklace, Paul Smith shades and Matiko shoes. I wanted to know more about this one and where she shops, but she was on the run. White is the most popular from what I see in LA and NYC, but I found some other fun colors, too.

Shop Scalloped Shorts: black, orange, denim, an inspired pair with a UK flair and the cutest multi-colored knit version from Free People.

Brooklyn Bound – I spotted Samantha on Bedford and N. 7th and thought she still looked put together after working all day. She’s wearing a vintage jacket, Uniqlo shirt, J Brand jeans, an H&M patterned scarf over her vintage green scarf and Nina Z shoes from the Brooklyn Flea. I originally shot Samantha for Racked New York, but was curious to find out where she likes to shop and hang, shared below.

I work in Media and Public Relations at the Guggenheim Museum and I am a food writer for Terrific Magazine. I generally shop in Brooklyn at Bird, In God We Trust, Steven Alan, Odd Twin Vintage, and the Brooklyn Flea or Artists & Fleas.

I suppose Bird is my favorite store, with Creatures of Comfort coming in at a close second.

Hang time includes the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Mile End Delicatessen, and Black Gold Records.

He Shred, She Shred – Shredded denim seems to be the NYC thing for Spring and I spotted these two outside Schiller’s on Rivington. I’m madly in like with her annihilated hem and am also feeling these shredded skirts.

I spotted Storm model Cara Delevingne right after the DKNY show on an insanely cold, windy day during New York Fashion Week. She was laughing about having to hold down her hair for the exit shots – and I told her it’d be fun if she just let it go. She was such a good sport! It’s funny because the Burberry model looks so young and I expected her voice to match, but then a sultry British tone spilled out. Did you catch her black velvet Burberry dress at the Met Gala, punctuated by the studded gloves?

Cara just shot the first high-fashion photo shoot using Instagram, according to Yahoo. Directed by Nick Knight for SHOWstudio, the jewelry editorial was a tongue in chic take on internet memes and featured jewelry by Van Cleef and Arpels, Cartier and Solange Azagury-Partridge.

She has acting aspirations, so expect to see more of her as she heads to Hollywood, starting with a small role in Joe Wright’s adaptation of Anna Karenina.

Here’s the skinny. It’s almost summer and I still have a heap of cold weather shots from New York Fashion Week that I’d love to fold in over the next couple weeks before I’m wearing short shorts (not). I’ll still be incorporating shots of us mere mortals in cute outfits around New York City, so it’ll be interesting to see the high/low photo combos.

Hint Hint – Happy Mother’s Day, Marina! I spotted super stylist Marina Muñoz with photographer Sebastian Kim and friends at Williamsburg’s Brooklyn Flea a few weekends ago – and it’s been so incredibly hard to save this post until today. I would’ve never known had she not pointed it out, but she was excited to say she was expecting a baby.

Given the great news, digging for outfit details became an afterthought, but I did catch that her bag [seen after the jump] was her friends’ line called Earyslee and that she’s carrying the Park Tote in Antique Tan. I was loving her fuschia blouse with the floral denim.

I shouldn’t have assumed the Williamsburg-based stylist would be all about the clothing at the flea. She mentioned she likes to peruse furniture, old prints, sunglasses, barber coats and clogs amongst the vintage goods. It was my first time there and she pointed out that it was really all about the food and it looks like she’s eating a popsicle from People’s Pops.

Not simply a stylist, these images are proof that Marina’s also a style icon and should give you a sample of her inspired taste. Congrats again to Marina & Sebastian! Her style is incredibly fun to follow and you can peek her tumblr to get an idea of her work and a hint of her at home.

Enter Orange – I don’t know why, but I’m all about scarves lately, especially with Carlotta’s orange twist – and soon you’ll meet Samantha, too.  I spotted this woman’s lovely combo in the meatpacking district as she walked up Ninth Avenue.

Saucy Sarah – I thought Sarah looked so evergreen in her vintage Lacoste jacket and serious vintage Levi’s flairs. She’s also wearing an American Apparel bodysuit, a Marc by Marc Jacobs wishbone necklace mixed with vintage necklaces, a Target belt and Urban Outfitters shoes. She has an infectious laugh and likes to shop for unique and quirky clothes.

Sarah Nisch is a Brooklyn-based actress and singer whose first EP, By Heart, was fully funded by kickstarter and just released on Valentine’s Day. (You might even recognize the denim on her album cover.)

Vintage Lacoste + Vintage Levi’s

Yes, I went there. (Come on, the pocket detail was half the charm.)

Back in Black – I spotted Wei outside my new favorite coffee shop in Williamsburg and was drawn his textures. His SNS Herning sweater hinted of a waffle knit on fast forward and the fabric on his Carol Christian Poell pants was densely woven. (<< If you click their link, the video is worth the wait!) He’s also wearing a Rick Owens cap and Guidi shoes and topped off with a Chrome Hearts bracelet, plus rings that aren’t visible.

Wei is a designer who says his interest in fashion is in smaller artisanal studios. He explained, “The pieces I wear are generally minimal with emphasis in experimental textile treatments and unconventional construction techniques.” He’s up to something interesting in Williamsburg that I shouldn’t mention yet, but stay tuned and hopefully you’ll be seeing him again soon. I was curious where a guy with his taste shops and learned his favorite store is the tony Atelier New York. Natch.

Brooklyn Bound – I spotted model Laure-Anne Baillon walking down N. 7th Street on a windy day with a gorgeous posse of friends. If you’re nosey, you can find her images at Look Models International under Main Board models here.

You might’ve noticed I’m loving Brooklyn, lately. I have to find time to spot more neighborhoods, but who can blame me for my crush on Williamsburg?

I’m also major crushing on Laure-Anne’s look, especially the cardigan over the jacket and the pants pocket position. Such a cute ensemble.

She’s new here and has a lot of shops to discover, but Dalaga, in Greenpoint, Brooklyn has already made an impression and is where she got the cool pants. She also likes Beacon’s Closet, Buffalo Exchange, Mango, Zara, All Saints and Diesel.

All You Need is Love – Filippa Berg is a special bird and someone Papermag once deemed a fashion icon. This Swedish writer + stylist is a voice featured on Rodeo.net and blogs here. I first spotted Filippa a few months ago when I was shooting Erickson Beamon’s presentation and party during New York Fashion Week. She slipped into the room quietly, but something about her was arresting.

I ran into her again at the Brooklyn Flea in Williamsburg and she flashed me a couple times when she lifted her sweater to give me her outfit details. (I told her she should put her boob away and she shrugged it off with a laugh.) She also showed me a sweater with a gaping hole in the armpit she found in her place after a party the night before. She’s a blast and was kind enough to indulge a few of my curiosities in a short Q & A below, continued after the jump. I have to say her answers surprised me and even shifted my perspective a bit. Please meet Filippa Berg.

Q: As a writer, what are your favorite types of stories to explore?

I love doing interviews. It’s like painting a portrait.

Q: How would you describe your style?

Nouveau poor.

Q: I’m so curious to know how tall you are – and how your height affects your fashion choices?

I’m very tall, I think [6'2"]. It’s great because I can wear both men’s and women’s. It’s more of a problem for me to not find clothes…

Q: You don’t seem romanced by labels, but do you have any favorite designers?

There are an amazing bunch of designers out there, I’m sure, but I can’t afford them. For me, it’s more about how you wear it, rather than who you are wearing. Although, I love my little collection of vintage Alaïa and Gaultier…

Q: As someone who’s travelled the world for fashion, what have you found to be your favorite places to shop?

Greece is amazing for handmade leather boots, India is where I get my jewellery, USA is great for mockasins and Sweden has the best thrift stores in the world.

Q: Of all the popular trends right now, what *won’t* we catch you wearing?

I’m clueless about the trends for this season…

Q: What are you excited about right now, whether style, music, etc?

Q: What area of New York City do you call home – and any favorite neighborhood hangs?

L.E.S… I have my ice coffee and bagel at World Atlas Café on Clinton Street, get my vintage fix at Narnia on Rivington, Pizza at Nonna L.E.S, and later I move over to St. Jerome’s for beer, liquor and some good old rock n’ roll.

Q: What’s your perfect day in New York?

A slow morning with burgers in bed, some sports and then a long nice walk in a new neighborhood. And then back to bed…

Playful Patterns – When I stopped her for a shot on N. 7th Street in Williamsburg, her friends joked, “Again? It’s all about Nina!” Can we talk about her cute patterns, orange patent heels and anklet? Clever.

The Lost Files - I’m happy to have finally found a flash card I misplaced from New York Fashion Week. I’ll be featuring some personal faves this week and next, including some sneak peeks.

I spotted Natalie Suarez after a fashion show at Lincoln Center. She’s a model and a favorite blogger (Natalie Off Duty) that I once interviewed while I was in Los Angeles. I was thrilled to learn she’s now based in New York City and look forward to reading about her favorite places. I was experimenting with a rented lens that afternoon. Can you tell? I liked the pop of her red lipstick and Banana Republic bag, juxtaposed against that luxe coat.

I wonder where Natalie ended up living in the city. I like the simplicity of her bedroom (and the torn T and sparkly sequin shorts). The room reminds me of my own rental, simply white. I’m finding that a clean slate does wonders for creativity and it’s been pure bliss.

Two Rare – I spotted this limited edition Balenciaga Arena Bag with lattice leathers in the West Village (above) and Proenza Schouler’s elusive leather, snake and canvas pouch in Nolita (below). Finding them both in the same weekend was a bit like spotting unicorns.

You just don’t see many friends bumping into each other in Los Angeles, so I especially love catching these moments in New York. I spotted these two on Bleecker Street in the West Village and was mesmerized by their colorful and clashing patterns and palettes.

Upper East Side - I spotted model, photographer and style star Hanneli Mustaparta as she was hopping out of a taxi and heading into Calvin Klein on Madison Ave. If you don’t know her, she’s fierce! I happened to snap a fun shot of her during New York Fashion Week. A couple days later, the New York Times ran a great story about ‘it girls’ who work both sides of the street style cameras, spotlighting three women including Hanneli. She has the perfect eye and no fear in going after her shot.

She’s wearing Acne from a mix of seasons, a Mulberry bag and Miu Miu shoes. If you want to see what she carries in that bag, she spills the details here.

Locking Horns - I spotted model Luci Taffs close to closing time at Williamsburg’s Brooklyn Flea, hauling a vintage chair and some antlers. I asked what she was going to do with antlers and she shrugged, “Probably paint them.” I wondered how that’d look, so I poked around and found some fun DIY options, listed below.

After Hours – Carlotta Bertelli is a photographer I spotted in Williamsburg, just after she had finished shooting a top model. I thought her face channeled Kate Moss and  loved her glasses (devoid of lenses) and the way she twisted her scarf into a chic nonchalance. The hair? Inspired.

She opened a box of Camel cigarettes to pull out her business card. Her website is called Not a Hat and I expected her to be a good photographer, but was surprised to find such stunning fashion editorials from someone so young. (Her credits read like someone you’d expect to be a decade older). We couldn’t come up with a name for her look (kaleidoscope, I thought), but she’s into vintage and colors. Keep an eye on Carlotta. I think she’s on to something.

Fun News - I woke up around my birthday to an email from Vogue Turkey wanting to use my shot of Issey Miyake’s BaoBao bag that I had spotted (ok, stalked) on Loren in Soho. (It’s the midnight blue bag at the top.) I spent a few of my formative childhood years in Turkey, which makes it even more heartwarming to have been included. Thank you, Vogue Türkiye!

Looks can be deceiving – She might look like an angel, but I discovered that Ford model Ranya Mordanova is more of a badass. I was shocked when I googled her images the night I shot this. A bevy of shots immediately conjured up thoughts of the movie assassin that one doesn’t see coming. Ranya has a history of goth haircuts, bleached eyebrows and also completely transforming herself into some pretty unforgettable characters.

I asked if anything about modeling might surprise us and I’m going to quote her verbatim here, because this Russian model’s response was too cute. She said, “Modeling it’s a real job! Physically and morally you must be very strong! But i very like it!” No, she’s never been approached for movies, but says you never know. One of her favorite jobs is a recent one with the Hermès team.

Whether she’s channeling Karen O, a spirited gamine or a futuristic bride, I simply find myself bowled over and think she’s one to watch.

Shop the Look: Ranya was wearing this Theory sweater, a Theory pleated white maxi skirt and J. Crew sandals. She says her style is about being comfortable, which changes depending on her mood.

Easy Breezy – Yesterday, I promised you some fun two-of-a-kinds for the week. Today, you’ll be meeting 2 different models I spotted on W. 4th Street in the West Village in variations of the sheer white skirt that’s trending here. I first noticed a boho variation on Catherine in the West Village in the last post.

I just spotted Major model Dalad Kambhu wearing an All-Saints jacket, American Apparel tank, Zara skirt, H&M shoes and a Cartier watch. She picked up the cute bag from a boutique in Japan. When I talked to her, she was packing for Europe and she might even be sharing her style secrets with us when she’s back on U.S. soil, so stay tuned. Until then, do you want to peek in her closet? [Update: Dalad just arrived in Paris and we'd been emailing about her style and I've included some highlights below.]

Style Profile: Dalad was actually stumped about how to describe her style, but I think it hints of an unpretentious chic. I like how she wears unidentifiable pieces, leaving the high-end to subtle accessories.

Shopping: She loves thrifts stores in Paris, old T-shirts from vintage shops in the Village and claims the Thailand weekend market is amazing. She also loves pairing these finds with her investment pieces.

Style Secret: For Dalad, the secret is to simply to be comfortable and to buy what you truly love. She followed up with, “When I was in school, I picked up tips from interning/living in Paris. One of them is effortless beauty.”

White Wonder – Catherine was the first person I noticed coming out of winter, already rocking the white boho maxi skirt I started to notice afterward all over the West Village. I originally shot her for Racked New York here. I promised you two-of-a-kind combos all week and you’ll be meeting two models today (Dalad & Ranya), both on W. 4th Street, also sporting the trend in very different ways…
