A longshot – I spotted Katy in front of Kitson Men as we both started making early rounds up Robertson during Fashion’s Night Out. I appreciated the pop of color of this edgier Alexander Wang bag against her delicate Chanel dress.
I had asked, “What’s in a Wang?” in this video shot at Diavolina. That store has since closed and their wall was removed to expand MADISON. You’ll see the bigger, better MADISON up soon.
Robertson Blvd – Los Angeles: I shot this right after I shot the Usher video for you. I was so fried from taxes that I plopped down outside Starbucks on the corner of Beverly & Robertson. I was instantly amused when these 3 cute friends rounded the corner. Less because they dressed alike and more because they seemed to be in stride. I thought the shot was a wash, so for the last couple seconds, just held the camera over my shoulder and put my head down and can’t believe they’re still in frame. (It’s usually the accidental videos or slivers I catch during uploading that I love the best. Stolen moments, I like to call them.)
Usher on Robertson Blvd, LA – Wow, I could not have planned getting this footage if I had tried. I almost literally ran into Usher as he leaped out of his Benz with handlers in tow, so I asked if I could take a shot and I got the first one (and a shout out) before the paparazzi caught on. Yes, we can all have a laugh at my expense. FTW? “Nice to see youuuuu.” (?) THAT was my brilliant one-liner? Hey, I never said I was the coolest girl in the room. Ok, I had planned to start with streetstyle (one of my many obsessions) but LA is very much about the cult of celebrity and it fell into my lap, so I’m running with it.
I hope you’ll look closer + really listen when you watch this — and I’ll post a Behind-the-Scenes for all the hidden treasures. Oh, and (spoiler alert) don’t miss this guy. He plays into my story later. Ok, play it already. [HD option]
