The Bold and the BeautifulHermès bags around LA are nothing new, but it seems they’re bright and bold this season. This pink bag is their Portfolio Clutch, which comes in so many delicious colors.

A well slung bag

A resting Goyard

Last time I was in Barney’s, they were building an exclusive Goyard Boutique. Can’t wait to see. [Click here to SUPERSIZE]

She’s wearing her friend’s bag, a very interesting designer I hope you’ll meet here soon. For now, let’s just call her a Wild Warrior.

A waisted Chanel

A waisted Chanel I shot at the Starbucks on Robertson a few weeks ago.

gucci guy 530 copy

I spotted this gent on Sunset on Grammy weekend and he was carrying this Gucci waistpack in such a cool way, but couldn’t make my way over to him in time. I happened to spot him later on Robertson and got a fun shot. I snapped a couple other well-accessoried men that day. This guy with his great scarf – and even better socks. Also this guy, with his expressive back pack. I think the last two were Italian, but if I’m wrong, please correct me and thanks for all the fun snaps! Twitter || Facebook

StyleSpotting Sundance: Best of Bags

by Jerri Howell on Wednesday, February 2, 2011

in Bag Fetish,StreetStyle,Sundance 2011

Chloe meets Chanel

Bag Envy – Yes, so many great bags at Sundance and a lot of the usual suspects wandering the streets like Chanel, Coach, Marc by Marc Jacobs, LV & Gucci – but I managed to spot an eclectic mix. But wait – there was  a golden goose not pictured here. My top pick for BEST BAG is the very first bag I spotted and deserves its own post, up next with a special pov of Main Street music. Until then, please to enjoy below { and there are some special treats when you click some of the pix }. - Click here to see the variety –

Best of Bags: Luxury Labels

by Jerri Howell on Tuesday, September 28, 2010

in Bag Fetish,StreetStyle,Trending

I briefly abandoned my friends on Sunday to wander the annual Abbot Kinney Street Fest, not quite sure what I’d find while walking up the center of the street swinging my head like a pendulum, left to right, left to right until I found myself drawn to a common theme. Luxury Labels.

1. Chanel and a mini Marc Jacobs

I blanked on this bag (above, right) and she answered, “It’s only Marc Jacobs” almost apologetically. As if her $600 bag didn’t rate next to a classic CHANEL. (We tend to forget that people outside our bubble don’t spend small fortunes on leather goods).

2. CHANEL in motion

3. CHANEL satchel

4. Scratching LV_back it up

5. Hanging with LV

6. Classic LV

7. Tiny Gucci

Wow, *loved* her little look with the belted shorts {click the pic}. That’s a shirt tied to her handbag, btw.

8. Balenciaga_Always and Forever

To answer your question, it’s an emphatic no. Your Balenciaga will never be out of style, your jewelry was amazing and understated and the LV shades, a perfect style staple.

9. Lo's Goyard takes a seat

I finally escaped LA’s record heatwave and made it back to K’s party with Rebecca’s cold brewed iced teas and a few pastries from @IntelliVenice. Of course, I had to sit where I could see Lo’s Goyard. ;->

Look Book: The Women of Warpaint

by Jerri Howell on Friday, September 24, 2010

in Celebrities,Music,StreetStyle,Video

The “Elephants” in the Room – Can we talk about how bummed I am to have missed the hypnotic all-girl band Warpaint play with The xx just a couple nights ago at Hollywood’s Palladium? These childhood friends were recently ordained by Stereogum as one of the 40 Best New Bands of 2010 – and I fell for them when they played LA Street Food Fest over the summer. Not only was I impressed with them as musicians – but you know I loved getting a micro view of their nonchalant stage style. I’ll give you the skinny on what they wore — and you can watch their videos and grab a free download below. {You can even Click the Pix for a few hidden bonus shots along the way.}

Women of Warpaint (Theresa Wayman)

Theresa Wayman – Vocals/Guitar

Women of Warpaint (Theresa Wayman's boots)

Shoegazing - I dug the texture of Theresa’s pieces, but had to stand on my tiptoes and prop my chin on the stage to get steady shots of her boots. I posted my first shot of her here over the summer and wish I could publish all the shots.

Jenny Lee Lindberg – Bass/Vocals & Stella Mozgawa – Drums/Keys/Vocals

Women of Warpaint (Jenny Lee Lindberg sings)

Kind of obsessed with Jenny Lee’s cool earrings & shredded sweater. Apologies for not being able to better capture Stella back there, but Rollo & Grady have called her the best drummer in Los Angeles.

Warpaint

I love the look of this video {below}, but really, really love their LIVE raw performance version by Jason Rosencrantz, especially around 4:22 when they harmonize so beautifully in the parking lot.

Warpaint’s latest album The Fool was mixed in an old Highland Park area gym (wow, some huge producers and mixers involved, like John Frusciante). For a free download of “Undertow,” visit their official website. Here’s the full flickr photo set and you can follow them on twitterfacebook or, er, luck be a lady if you can catch them on tour. Heh.

Kwaku Alston is StyleSpotting!

by Jerri Howell on Wednesday, September 15, 2010

in StreetStyle

Fashion’s Night Out – I’m elated to announce that I have a very special guest photographer in the house! Kwaku Alston is a Venice, CA based photographer who has taken photos of Fashion’s Night Out exclusively for StyleSpotting.com. You might recognize some of his iconic photos from the Obama Project, plus celebrity and lifestyle images.

I’ve admired his work for years, but I primarily see only his professional photos, so I was literally breathless when these candid images landed in my email. The texture was beyond what I expected – and it’s such a unique experience seeing Venice’s Abbot Kinney Blvd through his eyes. I have so many treasures in front of me, that it’s hard to know where to start, but I think taking a walk with these stylish women is a good start. Thank you, Kwaku! You can find his work at kwakualston.com or his blog artofstudio.com and more below on this stylish street.

Paula Abdul’s Cold Hearted Snake Clutch

by Jerri Howell on Friday, August 27, 2010

in Celebrities,StreetStyle

Paula Abdul's snake clutch (1)

Forever Your Girl was Paula Abdul’s first album and a big part of my youth because I danced my arse off (simpler times, my friend) to her hits: Cold Hearted, Forever Your Girl and STRAIGHT UP! So, when her mysterious snake clutch bag entered Belle Coeur’s launch event at Bettina Duncan in Fred Segal Santa Monica (more on that soon), I took it upon myself to follow said bag on behalf of bag addicts everywhere.

Paula Abdul at Fred Segal (3)

Above left, loved meeting this photographer (Joyce) and dug her rocker vibe. I got the impression she tailors her wardrobe around her shoots and tonight’s jewelry was definitely the rocker vibe from Miami based singer/songwriter/designer Jamie Jo Harris. Tara Solomon’s on the right and her Miami based firm (Tara, Ink.) threw the event. (I still have a soft spot for Miami after shooting a Bravo show there this spring).

Paula Abdul with Fred Segal's Bettina Duncan (4)

Bettina Duncan owns the eponymous jewelry and accessory boutiques at Fred Segal that threw the Belle Coeur event (and her daughter seemed really thrilled to meet Paula).

I hope you enjoyed the snake-clutch-whose-origin-I-do-not-know as much as I did. I leave you with the memory of “Cold Hearted” Snake above, that, if you think about it, ultimately led her to this event. On the way out, I ran into 2 Real Housewives who were dripping in diamonds and chains, so stay tuned for that

Look Book: Casual Totes in Venice, CA

by Jerri Howell on Friday, August 13, 2010

in Bag Fetish,StreetStyle

I mentioned stylespotting on Abbot Kinney Blvd in Venice, CA during their monthly First Friday event (think: food & folly). I’ve shown you Jarrett wearing Japanese designer Goroactress Kaylee outside Gjelina restaurant and Jared from 944 magazine’s hip hair. Stay tuned for Monica & Evan’s patchwork DIY that caught my eye. I also spotted a few interesting casual bags circling the street like Harajuku Lovers, LeSportsac and… Trader Joe’s? Click below to see all…

A really fun Trader Joe’s shopping bag used as a tote. Clever.  Click here for more pix…
