Paula Abdul’s Cold Hearted Snake Clutch

Paula Abdul's snake clutch (1)

Forever Your Girl was Paula Abdul’s first album and a big part of my youth because I danced my arse off (simpler times, my friend) to her hits: Cold Hearted, Forever Your Girl and STRAIGHT UP! So, when her mysterious snake clutch bag entered Belle Coeur’s launch event at Bettina Duncan in Fred Segal Santa Monica (more on that soon), I took it upon myself to follow said bag on behalf of bag addicts everywhere.

Above left, loved meeting this photographer (Joyce) and dug her rocker vibe. I got the impression she tailors her wardrobe around her shoots and tonight’s jewelry was definitely the rocker vibe from Miami based singer/songwriter/designer Jamie Jo Harris. Tara Solomon’s on the right and her Miami based firm (Tara, Ink.) threw the event. (I still have a soft spot for Miami after shooting a Bravo show there this spring).  [click to continue…]

Look Book: Casual Totes in Venice, CA

by Jerri Howell on Friday, August 13, 2010

in Bag Fetish,Los Angeles,StreetStyle

I mentioned stylespotting on Abbot Kinney Blvd in Venice, CA during their monthly First Friday event (think: food & folly). I’ve shown you Jarrett wearing Japanese designer Goroactress Kaylee outside Gjelina restaurant and Jared from 944 magazine’s hip hair. Stay tuned for Monica & Evan’s patchwork DIY that caught my eye. I also spotted a few interesting casual bags circling the street like Harajuku Lovers, LeSportsac and… Trader Joe’s? Click below to see all…

A really fun Trader Joe’s shopping bag used as a tote. Clever.  Click here for more pix…

Look Book: Bags at LA Street Food Fest

by Jerri Howell on Thursday, August 5, 2010

in Bag Fetish,Food + Beverage,StreetStyle

So many fun bags floating around LA Street Food Fest and I showed you my favorite Gucci Girl, but these caught my eye, too:

Best of Bags: Foley + Corinna at LA Street Food Fest

Foley + Corinna’s City Bag is the best bag ever and easier to handle with the detachable shoulder strap, but cleaner aesthetically by slipping the handles over the shoulder. She picked up this Large Metallic City Bag years ago and it’s still mint. This studded version is cool and they have a few solid colors on sale now. BTW, I’m also crushing on the purple shirt with the swinging chains. Click here for the full post…  Show me more.

Best of Bags: Gucci Girl

Gucci Girl_1

Best of the Fest – There was a fun array of bags at the LA Street Food Fest you’ll see coming up next, but I had the most affection for this vintage Gucci messenger bag. Isn’t she stylish? This Gucci girl was spinning around, seemingly trying to locate a friend there, but I waited it out to show you. If you’re just tuning in, there are a lot more food fest posts below and still so much more to come.

Look Book: LA Street Food Fest 2010

Curbing Hunger - The second LA Street Food Fest delivered in spades. I mentioned the 5,000 attendees and 60 vendors in this previous post and my only complaint was not showing up with more of an appetite. (Funny, but I bought my ticket online 6 weeks earlier, misread it and almost showed up in June)! The food alone was worth the drive up to the Rose Bowl, but the style made it worth staying for the duration. You’ll see the Look Book below, but join me for a lot more style stories coming.

Border Grill

In addition to the food trucks stationed outside the field, a slew of vendor tents circled the field, including Border Grill above.

peanut butter and nutella fries!

I inhaled these peanut butter and nutella french fries from fresh fries, but plenty of other FOOD PORN to be had like these cookies, Border Grill’s green corn tamale cup and these goodies. Truck, truck, goose.

Downtown Brown

Sexy in so many ways.

Triple Threat

These guys were trying to come up with aliases to give me and the one in the middle decided on Paco.

Baby likes what she sees.

Beyond cute.

Warming up with a game of badminton…

Score!

Score! More LA Street Food Fest style stories to come, including Blanket Statements, Best in Bags, I’m With the Band and Trends. Here’s the current flickr set.
