Better off Red at Marc Jacobs

by Jerri Howell on Sunday, November 25, 2012

in New York,NYFW,StreetStyle

You and what army? - I was shooting these models taking their final smokes before Marc by Marc Jacobs fashion show during NYFW last winter when a busload of people starting spilling out onto the sidewalk. Such the photojournalist, I had to investigate who the designer would be bussing in and recognized some of his Los Angeles staffers in the shot (below) and realized I’ve shot her before (unpublished). She was so cute whenever I spotted her around LA and I loved this blue denim shirt juxtaposed with that red skirt and the ostrich leather textured boots. You can glance more cute pieces by Marc here and I’ll be posting more bonus shots on instagram (I seem to have so many from before and after that show).

If you’re into the brand at all, you’ll also recognize the gent in front. {You can click the pic to Supersize the shot of Marc’s army}

David + Katia = Thom Browne

by Jerri Howell on Friday, August 3, 2012

in New York,StreetStyle

Red, White and Blue – I spotted David and Katia shopping for flowers in the West Village, both looking quite clever in his & her Thom Browne. David’s also wearing Marc Jacobs pants and Lanvin sneakers — and Katia’s detail shots are shown below. I first spotted them on Bleecker Street, but was taking a break with a Magnolia Bakery cupcake when they walked by and was bummed I missed them, but rounded the corner later on 8th Avenue and spotted them buying flowers. Kismet. it’s easy to see they are lovely people and I walked away wishing I knew more about them.

Marc Jacobs Gingham Girls

by Jerri Howell on Friday, June 15, 2012

in New York,StreetStyle

More Marc - I spotted them in Soho, both decked in Marc Jacobs gingham, and I had to do a double take for multiple reasons. I mean, gingham Mary Janes?  Clever. It was all too much for my little heart. She’s also wearing this gingham scarf in a different shade. I can’t remember if the woman on the right was in a gingham skirt or dress and have to run now or I’d hunt it down. Oh wait, is it this printed sheath dressGuess what – Marc Jacobs shoes are on sale 40% off! This was a weekday afternoon, people. I can’t imagine how they dress up on weekends.

Tiffany’s Time Out

by Jerri Howell on Wednesday, June 13, 2012

in New York,StreetStyle

All About Marc - I spotted Tiffany on Spring Street + Crosby in Soho, sporting the cutest outfit she tells me is all Marc, including the flavin stripe bird skirt, She’s also wearing Celine black espadrille wedges. Waah, they’re sold out at Bluefly, but here’s a fun selection of black espadrilles. She’s distracted by two other streetstyle photogs who had just pounced on their next victim, witnessed here.

Army Accents

How did we ever manage before iphones?

The top photo was taken right before (or even during) Marc by Marc Jacobs 2012 F/W fashion show at The Armory.

The bottom shot is Shadi in the West Village, who’s wearing all Marni x H&M, plus a Marc by Marc Jacobs (reasonably priced) laminated pouch. He scored a good armful of the Marni pieces by lining up at H&M’s Soho store well before dawn the day the collection launched. Now, that’s the spirit.

Julija’s Saturated Style

by Jerri Howell on Friday, May 18, 2012

in New York,StreetStyle

Moody Hues – I spotted Julija on The High Line in the Meatpacking District and a went a little nuts over her look. She’s wearing a Balenciaga jacket, Urban Outfitters shirt and rich red Isabel Marant corduroys. Her bag is Marc Jacobs and her scarf and shoes are from Zara. Wait a minute. I think she added that long strap to her bag. Clever. If you’re curious about the full outfit shot, it’s over on Racked New York. Doesn’t this shot just make you ready for the weekend?

Susie Bubble on the Double

by Jerri Howell on Thursday, May 17, 2012

in New York,NYFW,StreetStyle

Twice as Nice – I spotted Susie Lau a/k/a Susie Bubble before fashion shows for Donna Karan (above) and Marc by Marc Jacobs (below) the very next day. I always love to see what she’s wearing and there’s never a dull moment. She experiments with color, and especially textures, in a way that’s usually inspiring and always entertaining. I love the trademark topknot and that she looks like a living doll.

She talks about what she’s wearing here, with her Suno jacket, Peter Jensen sweaters over a uniqlo heat tech shirt, Miu Miu x Pop Shoes (love!) and a Theyskens for Theory bag.

Everyone after Susie was running to Marc’s show because they’re known to start on time and many VIP’s have been locked out. (That’s why Anna Dello Russo was running here.) P.S. Susie made it.

Bag Fetish – I had planned to do a fun Best of Bags post from last Sunday’s Brooklyn Flea focusing on indie finds, but so many were surprisingly higher end Proenza Schouler, Marc Jacobs and Tory Burch, etc. *On the more affordable end, you might like actress Olivia Wilde’s simple $30 tote above that says “Love is my Religion” by Pro Love Movement. It’s available here in stone or (my personal fave) navy and you can find more fun looks below.

[Hint: You can also click the pics for related posts, plus more at the bottom for newcomers.] Come inside with me for more features through the weekend with a stylist’s good scoop, a model with horns and my new favorite ‘it’ girl (who flashed me twice and shrugged it off).

Did you know Tory Burch carries a fun variety of convertible clutches?

Louis Vuitton Pink Denim Shoulder bag, Marc by Marc Jacobs scarf and sexy tights. The bag is hard to find, but here’s an authentic pre-owned bag like hers on Bag Borrow or Steal’s Private Sale.

Ashley’s Proenza Schouler PS 11 bag + Louis Vuitton and Lizzie Fortunato bracelets

Vintage Dooney and Bourke that the cute kids are still collecting.

Brooklynites sure are cute! More to come from inside and the view will surprise you.

*Disclaimer: For the record, Olivia Wilde and beau Jason Sudeikis were already outed as being there or I would’ve sat on the shot.

Just a reminder that All Rights Reserved on my images, so if you would like to republish Olivia Wilde or others, please contact me.
