I had such a fun time stopping on Robertson Blvd yesterday. Always such a wide array of style, from couture to magazine to indie to street and it rarely disappoints. I spotted Lisa, who’s visiting from Norway, weaving in and out shops with her friends and snapped her as she was leaving Starbucks. I loved the strung out shirt that could pass for indie, yet it’s from Urban Outfitters and she picked up the owl earrings at a vintage shop in San Francisco. After the shots, Lisa was off to track down shoes that are sold out everywhere else and I street-spotted a lace-up shoe at nearly $1,000 and a stylish guy giving orders. Literally. Stay tuned and safe travels, Norwegians.
Bummer, the car behind her got a ticket. Lisa’s standing in front of Vionnet Boutique and Curve and here’s the streetstyle shot with us both laughing (it can be embarrassing being snapped on the street, okaaaay)! Great sales right now on Robertson. Click here or visit the next post. Lisa, feel free to email me for all the other fun images!
Red + Stripes on Robertson Blvd - Love the bag! I was originally drawn to the pop of the red Chloe Paraty bag against the fitted stripes, but now I’m equally consumed by the entire outfit (and stripes are trending in LA). She was a bit camera shy, yet exotically stunning – and I’m fairly sure she was oblivious to this (which is rare in LA). I was leaving Robertson, juggling work stuff and coffee and had to snap her on the run, so it’s blurry – but I’m happy I got the shots. Below’s a better detail shot. Ok, next stop is Venice!
Robertson Blvd – Los Angeles: I shot this right after I shot the Usher video for you. I was so fried from taxes that I plopped down outside Starbucks on the corner of Beverly & Robertson. I was instantly amused when these 3 cute friends rounded the corner. Less because they dressed alike and more because they seemed to be in stride. I thought the shot was a wash, so for the last couple seconds, just held the camera over my shoulder and put my head down and can’t believe they’re still in frame. (It’s usually the accidental videos or slivers I catch during uploading that I love the best. Stolen moments, I like to call them.)
Tap Tap – is this thing on? Welcome to StyleSpotting.com, my own personal Style + Pop Culture ‘channelzine’ of sorts, taking you on my journey of Los Angeles and the irreverent culture surrounding style. I’ve always had an infinite curiosity and rabid fascination with all things style and find that when I dig a little deeper, style has a story.
Before we go any further, I should tell you that I’m a chronic list maker, a design junkie and that jewelry is my porn. My background is as a TV & Digital Development Executive at E! Entertainment, Vh1 & 20th Century Fox TV Studios. I’ve also produced series for a broad range of networks and recently optioned a docu-series with more in the works. I enjoyed an earlier stint running an LA designer’s handbag company and even my own jewelry company in college. Back then, I was also the girl with the camera who lived in the edit bay, so I’m finally getting back to my roots!
I intend to sprinkle the site with streetstyle stories, shiny objects, good eats and many, many, er, stolen moments (heh). If there’s something special you’d really like to see, hear, taste or touch along the way, please let me know. And if you’re a fellow blogger, please say hello…
