Taxi! – It’s been a couple days of organized chaos as I move my home base from the East Village to Williamsburg for a month or two. See, I thought it would be cute to come to NYC and sublet a new place each month for what was to be a short tour here. You know, to live like a local in different neighborhoods – but the moves have been taxing, yet it’s building character. I started in Gramercy Park (where I caught the season’s first snowfall), then the Upper East Side (think: fur coats) and this last month in the East Village. I’m packing up my final things, with technology items as my last trip.
Otherwise, I have a small confession to make. I’ve been hoarding. Photos. Lots of them, from both coasts. (Yes, I realize these are sentence fragments, but it’s a blog and not a newspaper). Expect some fun Q&A’s with personalities on both coasts, a few fun models I’ve come across and one very special Hemingway. Oh, and of course Fashion Week is coming up! Aaaaack! So much to do.
Style Surfing: My first New York Fashion Week, while I was here visiting a friend last fall.
Guess who’s coming to Target? As if you didn’t know. I spotted this painter in Nolita today – literally spelling it out for us.
The sign is on the corner of Prince & Mulberry and this man was painstakingly filling in each letter. As it states, the collection drops in just two weeks and prices will fall between $19.99 and $59.99. New York Mag had first dibs on the official Look Book and you can catch their slideshow here, thirty deliciously detailed slides with prices. Which are my faves, you ask? This flirty trench, this striped Jersey dress and these collegiate stripes. Let’s just hope [cough, cough] that Target’s server can handle the traffic this time.
Color is Coming – I loved these colorful looks I spotted coming up Greene Street in SoHo today. It was damn hard to find great color this weekend, but I managed to hunt a few things to share and will be expanding my search next weekend. I’m loving New York, but this Angeleno needs better walking shoes, but there are so many choices! Speaking of which, since you guys are so in the know, I would love to hear any of your NYC faves for walking shoes (as I’m a heels girl), thrift stores, Brooklyn shops and off the beaten path Manhattan spots to try. I’m easy to find via email, comments facebook and twitter.
This week, you’ll meet some meatpacking men, eavesdrop on a stylish conversation and see some very belated LA stories.
Sunday Best - I wanted to share some quick style picks from last week and personal updates on a lazy Sunday…
- In the Now: NET-A-PORTER’S digital magazine issue, The Blog Power List, was all the rage last week. It was such fun, textured eye candy that I almost forgot it was a shopping site. [NET-A-PORTER] [click to continue…]
