West Village

This just happened on Bleecker Street.

Love + Smythson – At the stoplight, he spun around and clutched her as tightly as he could. She was carrying one of these.

(I couldn’t find an exact color match, but wouldn’t mind owning Violet.)

Slow and Steady Wins the Race

by Jerri Howell on Sunday, December 23, 2012

in Bag Fetish,New York,StreetStyle

Tongue in Chic – I spotted this white canvas reinterpretation of Balenciaga’s motorcycle bag in the West Village and was sunk. It’s the brainchild of designer Mary Ping of Slow and Steady Wins the Race, a label originated to create limited editions of well-constructed products and accessories as “social metaphor.” This bag is long gone, but she has a range of interesting pieces in the hopper, from this eyelet stamped sweatshirt, to an electric blue Kraft bag, to these tri-colored wedges.

Miljana, Mina and Ethan

by Jerri Howell on Monday, October 29, 2012

in Models,New York,StreetStyle,Trending

Casual Corner – I spotted Miljana, model Mina Cvetkovic and Ethan yesterday on one of my favorite corners for style spotting in the West Village. I loved their spirit as I spotted them laughing and looking stylish in their nice variety of black cropped jackets. I spotted Mina’s Isabel Marant Bekett sneaker wedges a mile away and still want a pair, but they’re so much more appealing on women with her height (i.e. models). Thanks for stopping for a fun style shot and hope to see you guys around…

Oh and this shot made the New York Times Fashion Section today.

This week: More Big in Japan, New York Fashion Week Faves with some videos — and I just ran into a favorite Fashion Editor / blogger in the West Village.

P.S. If you like Isabel Marant, check out her latest clothing collection at Barneys.

David + Katia = Thom Browne

by Jerri Howell on Friday, August 3, 2012

in New York,StreetStyle

Red, White and Blue – I spotted David and Katia shopping for flowers in the West Village, both looking quite clever in his & her Thom Browne. David’s also wearing Marc Jacobs pants and Lanvin sneakers — and Katia’s detail shots are shown below. I first spotted them on Bleecker Street, but was taking a break with a Magnolia Bakery cupcake when they walked by and was bummed I missed them, but rounded the corner later on 8th Avenue and spotted them buying flowers. Kismet. it’s easy to see they are lovely people and I walked away wishing I knew more about them.

Sydney is All About ASOS

by Jerri Howell on Tuesday, July 31, 2012

in New York,StreetStyle

Something about Sydney - I spotted Sydney, a fashion publicist and ASOS expert (pronounced Ay-Sauce) in the West Village and just had to share her style. Naturally, she’s wearing the brand’s embroidery mesh dress as well as bag and swears by Joomi Lim jewelry. Sydney gives us the scoop on her style and ASOS faves below.

Can you describe your style?

“It changes all the time depending on my mood but typically I wear a lot of color and am drawn to anything creamy, white, & ethereal. I live in Joomi Lim accessories as it adds a little edge. Whatever I like – I wear to death until I’m over it.”

Do you play favorites?

The ASOS SALON collection! + ASOS trousers are particularly amazing and just wait until the fall collection starts hitting the site… the knits and prints are beyond.

Thanks, Sydney! Her faves are listed here:

Rachel + CÉLINE

by Jerri Howell on Wednesday, June 20, 2012

in Bag Fetish,New York,StreetStyle

Think Pink – I spotted Rachel (Rachel Jane, according to her foot tattoo) in the West Village, both of us peeking through Zero Maria Cornejo’s window after hours. I loved her great combo of nonchalant shirt, figure flattering denim and sharp sandals, topped with that subtle, yet serious CÉLINE bag. It’s the fluo trio in hibiscus pink and you can click here to supersize. Her jeans are Paige Denim, with a shirt she got at ‘that cheap Ukrainian shop in the East Village,’ sunglasses from SEE and ‘cheapie shoes.’

I’m kind of dying for the fun shirt and love that it’s long (well, she added the long tank) and tuckworthy. I also have a fetish for the thumb tuck trend that I can’t seem to get quite right like all the cool girls. Someday soon.

Thanks for the fun shots Rachel, and if you remember the name of that East Village store, please let us know!

Burberry Brit on Bleecker Street

by Jerri Howell on Thursday, June 7, 2012

in New York,StreetStyle

A Sharp Dressed Man – Always such cool guys hanging out around Burberry Brit on Bleecker in the West Village. The brand touts itself as ‘a young and effortless collection featuring iconic check shirts, directional denim and heritage-inspired coat.’ Love the detailed piping on his jacket, the smart shirt placket and had a major crush on his shoes. Wonder what he bought…
